A “Caldero Fundido” or “Cast Iron Cauldron” is a versatile cooking tool with a unique design. It’s often used in Hispanic kitchens due to its superior heat distribution. The caldero, which translates to ‘cauldron’ in English, has rounded sides and a tight-fitting lid. It’s used to cook a variety of dishes including rice, beans, braised meat, stews, and soups.
The Caldero Fundido is made of cast aluminum, which is an excellent conductor and conservator of temperature. This material is highly resistant to impacts due to its extra-thick walls. The caldero also features anti-slip bottoms for stability, triangular-shaped handles for a better grip, and thicker handles for easy and safe handling. It’s suitable for oven use and is made from materials that are safe for contact with food.
