Ron Viejo De Caldas

The nature reserve of Industria Licorera de Caldas is located in the upper part of the basin of the Chinchiná River, formed by a low montane rainforest where 68 springs that make up three beds of streams called Pinera, Cristalina and Guayabal emerge; these waters are the water supply with which the liquors of Caldas are made, becoming one of the added values to produce liquor with water that comes directly from the spring. This natural reserve has an altitude that ranges between 2200 and 2700 m.a.s.l., with more than 160 species of forest flora and more than 2056 species of macroinvertebrates, which have allowed the identification of bioindicator species of extremely pure water such as the Water Blackbird cinclus leucocephalus. This low montane rainforest has 270 hectares dedicated to the conservation of water, flora and fauna, bordering the great biological corridor of Rio Blanco one of the largest in the department of Caldas, this forest preserves in parallel one of the raw materials of Ron Viejo de Caldas, which is the wood of the Colombian White Oak Quercus humboldtii with 24 hectares, endemic forest material of Colombia and that contributes to the attributes and added value of the liquors of Caldas.

The natural reserve of the Industria Licorera de Caldas preserves three secrets of its products: The spring water with which its products are made, the wood with which the barrels are made for ageing and the altitude at which the Caldas liqueurs are produced and aged; a search of the environment of the Nevado del Ruiz volcano which is a fundamental part of the biological corridor of Rio Blanco, added values of the secrets of the Caldas liqueurs.
Currently the Industria Licorera de Caldas through the conservation of its green lung called Natural Reserve, has achieved in recent years to mitigate greenhouse gases becoming a carbon neutral company, associated with the guidelines of the care and management of water with its water footprint.
